 If you’re not mapping out content topics, target audiences and personas, you’re already missing the party. Take the time to list out your top content areas and who you want to reach.

 

2.     Add Emotion

 The legal field has a few emotional advocates in the marketplace, and they are typically the best known. Don’t get sucked into the abyss of legal jargon and interpretations. Yes, it may be exciting to you, but everyone else that’s not a lawyer may not understand what you are saying.

 

3.     Don’t Be Too Aggressive

 I always struggled with this one because I believe persistence shows confidence and passion. But when it comes to legal sales tactics, research has shown that people are more likely to shut down rather than commit. It’s not like buying a car – if someone is looking for a lawyer it’s because they need representation and guidance on a serious issue.

 

4.     Be Careful What You Offer

 Even the whole “we don’t get paid unless we win” line has proven to backfire in the past. People don’t even want to consider the option of a loss or chance that something may not work out. I don’t know who came up with that line, but I’m not a fan. 

 

5.     Add ALL Social Media Channels to Your Engagement Plan

 It’s impossible to keep track of everything. That’s why I pay smart people to do it for me! Seriously, make sure you’re exploring every avenue possible to communicate to your audience. You want to be seen so use Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
